Perth Wildcats swingman Greg Hire will be celebrating his 100th game this week during the Heritage Round clash against the Melbourne Tigers.
“It’s fantastic, obviously as a development player you just hope to get suited up every single game,” he said.
“Now to reach 100 games for a club I grew up idolising is fantastic.”
Hire was named SBL Rookie of the Year in 2006 whilst playing for the Wanneroo Wolves.
He then attended two Colleges in the US before coming back to Australia to become a Wildcats development player in 2010.
The 2012/13 season saw Hire shine, with a career high 14 rebounds against Adelaide 36ers in February 2013.
Since establishing himself with the Perth Wildcats, Hire has worked hard to be involved with the community and will soon launch Kicks 4 Kids, a project to raise money for Youth Focus, an organisation he is a proud ambassador for.
The current season has also been good to the “Mayor of Wanneroo”, with Hire named as co-vice captain of the Wildcats alongside Veteran Shawn Redhage.
Hire is looking forward to celebrating his 100th game in the Heritage Round, which he says is a great celebration of the Wildcats notable history.
“To be imprinted in the Wildcats history is something I will cherish for the rest of my life.“
