No imports, no worries for Wildcats in Margaret River

The Perth Wildcats have defeated the Adelaide 36ers 81-73 in the second game of their two-game pre-season tour of WA’s South West.

Played in front of a packed Margaret River Recreation Centre, the Wildcats got the result with a tenacious defensive – holding the visitors to just 25 points after halftime.

Again without any of their import players, the Perth Wildcats started the game with Damian Martin, Matt Knight, Greg Hire, Angus Brandt and Jarrod Kenny.

Jesse Wagstaff made a big impact coming off the bench, finishing the game with a team-high 17 despite just 12 minutes of time on the court due to foul trouble.

Angus Brandt continued his terrific pre-season form with 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists.

Jarrod Kenny was terrific in the second half with five assists of his own plus 12 points (nine after halftime).

New Wildcat Clint Steindl was also lively, collecting seven rebounds to go with eight points including two threes.

Big Matt Knight was solid and his four steals contributed to Adelaide’s turnover count of 16.

Both teams shot the ball above 45 per cent and dropped 21 dimes apiece in an entertaining and typically physical encounter between the two sides.
