Perth Wildcats star Casey Prather said his team is excited heading into the first game of the 2016/17 Swisse NBL Finals.
Prather, who on Monday night was named in the All-NBL First Team, said after clinching the club’s 31st consecutive Finals berth, the team can now focus on its real goal.
“We’re feeling positive and have the right mental approach to the playoffs going in, we know going to Cairns is a tough environment. They’re a tough team to play,” he said.
“We’re just trying to do what we do best to hopefully pick up a win on the road.”
In a season where six teams were battling for three remaining finals positions in the last round of the season, Prather believes anyone could take out the title, and is even more confident it will be his Wildcats.
“With the group of guys we have, we were saying if we make the playoffs we will have a good chance of winning the championship. I believe in everyone in this team,” he said.
“31 consecutive playoff appearances is an unbelievable accomplishment. We didn’t want to be that team who didn’t get there.
“It’s definitely a big weight off our shoulders.”
The first timee the Wildcats visited Cairns this, Casey Prather sat out after failing to pull up in time in a tough double-header.
Semi-Final Game One will be the first time the Wildcats take a full team to Far North Queensland this season.
Game One tips off at 4.30pm WA time on Friday.
