Wagstaff, Walker to represent NBL in China

Jesse Wagstaff and Lucas Walker have been selected to play in an NBL representative team to head to China next month.

The side will play the Chinese national team in a three-game tour beginning 5 July in Beijing.

The series will also feature games in Guangdong on 7 July and Jilin on 9 July.

All three games to be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

It follows the success of last year’s tour of China by the NBL All-Australian team which was watched by a huge audience on Chinese television.

NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger said it was another exciting opportunity for the NBL and Australian basketball.

“Last year’s series was a great success and we were warmly welcomed by the Chinese people who are passionate about basketball,” he said.

“The huge TV audience on its national free to air sports channel CCTV5 was fantastic exposure for the NBL which is growing in popularity in China. We are delighted that Australian fans will also be able to watch the games live on Fox Sports.”
