Wildcats Off-Season Wrap – 17 July 2017

Dexter Kernich-Drew’s injury while playing for the Rockingham Flames headlines this week’s Wildcats Off-Season Wrap.

With his Flames trailing late in the game against Perry Lakes, the 25-year-old copped an errant elbow to the chin, causing a hairline fracture.

Kernich-Drew will now miss the remainder of the SBL season and will be on light duties for approximately six weeks.

Before getting hurt, he scored 19 points in the loss.

Rhys Vague and Corban Wroe made the trip to Bunbury for their match with the South West, coming away with a 10-point win.

Vague picked up a 18-point, 10-rebound double-double while Wroe scored a season-high 23 points.

Up the highway in Mandurah, guard Mason Bragg was dominant for East Perth with 28 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

In Las Vegas, the NBA Summer League has wrapped up for Wildcats players looking to impress on the global stage.

Casey Prather averaged 9.0 points in 20.8 minutes of basketball per game, while Bryce Cotton’s focus on defence saw his numbers fall below what would normally be expected of him.
