2022 Gordon Ellis Medal Preview

The Perth Wildcats will reveal who takes out the 2022 Gordon Ellis Medal as its Most Valuable Player of the 2021/22 season, at Saturday’s 2022 Perth Wildcats MVP Ball.
The gala event takes place at Crown Towers, with 1,200 guests in attendance.
The Gordon Ellis Medal is determined through a game-by-game voting system.
Following every game, three Wildcats coaches, one former Wildcats player and one basketball journalist each vote on who they deem the most valuable players of that game.
A 3-2-1 voting system is used, with the best player allocated three votes.
Since his arrival in 2017, Bryce Cotton has taken out three Gordon Ellis Medals, however John Mooney is the reigning Perth Wildcats MVP after his excellent 2021 season.
Only three Wildcats in history have won four or more Gordon Ellis Medals, with Ricky Grace and Shawn Redhage both with six to their name, and James Crawford four.
Cotton will be looking to join that elite group on Saturday.
Other awards to be revealed on the night are the Eric Watterson Medal for Players’ Player, the Andrew Vlahov Medal for Best Defensive Player, Most Improved Player and the Coaches’ Award.
The Perth Wildcats MVP Ball also features the MVP Ball Auction, with over 300 items and experienced being auctioned off to raise funds for the Perth Wildcats Community Program.
The online auction is live now and anyone can join the bidding, with 10 big ticket items also being auctioned live in the room on Saturday.
