After returning to Perth after two months away from home, the Perth Wildcats have wasted no time getting back into training.
The Wildcats touched down in Perth on Tuesday night, and captain Jesse Wagstaff said it was an emotional moment for his team.
“It’s awesome. We’ve been on the road for two months and we haven’t been in Perth all year, it’s been some time,” said Jesse Wagstaff.
“It’s a bit of a shock to the system coming home to three kids running around, it’s a bit noisier, but it’s awesome. It’s great to see them, I’m sure everyone had similar emotions, it’s just good to be back and good to be with family.
“Facetime is pretty good, we’re lucky to have things like that, but it’s no substitute for the real thing.”
With WA borders open on Thursday, the team were able to hit the court at Bendat Basketball Centre for one of two training sessions before this weekend’s trip to Adelaide.
“It’s good to be back in familiar surrounds. We are going to be on the road still for a little bit, so it’s kind of business as usual, but it’s nice sleeping in your own bed at the end of the day.”
The Wildcats will board another flight on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s clash with the 5-9 Adelaide 36ers.
Tip-off is at 10am Perth time on 10 Peach and Fox Sports 505 as well as ESPN via Kayo.
