Jaron Rillie Speaks to Media Ahead of Cairns Clash

Perth Wildcats guard Jaron Rillie spoke to media ahead of the team’s Round 4 matchup against the Cairns Taipans at the Cairns Convention Centre.
Rillie is coming off two standout performances that highlight his growing impact, posting a remarkable +46 plus-minus in just 20 minutes of NBL action.
Despite back-to-back wins, Rillie said the team remains focused on improving each game.
“It’s always good to get one win, then two in a row,” he said. “But we know there are things we’ve got to get better at and keep chipping away each day.”
Rillie expects a strong contest against a Taipans side that’s shown flashes of top-level form early in the season.
“They’ve won some really good games, and we know they’ve got talent across the board. We’re expecting their best effort,” Rillie said. “They’ve got length, size and athleticism, so we just have to handle everyone, not focus too much on one player.”
After limited minutes early in the season, Rillie’s recent form has mirrored the team’s rising confidence.
“We’ve all been together for a couple of months now, so everyone knows each other’s capabilities,” he said. “Whoever comes in, we have confidence they’ll contribute and help us win.”
Rillie also reflected on the lessons of early-season adjustments and the physical nature of the NBL.
“The pace is faster, the 24-second shot clock changes things, and the physicality here is its own challenge,” he said. “It’s about learning what you can and can’t get away with and building from there.”
With Perth sitting at 2–1, Rillie said the group is grounded but motivated.
“Everyone’s excited we’ve won two games, but we know how quickly things can turn,” he said. “It’s a long season, we just need to keep doing the work.”
The Wildcats face the Cairns Taipans on Friday, 2 October.
