The countdown towards NBL27 continued this week, with Perth Wildcats players logging more important minutes across Australia and overseas as their respective off-season campaigns rolled on.
Kristian Doolittle provided the headline moment of the week in Puerto Rico, after producing the game-winning assist for Osos de Manati against Capitanes De Arecibo when the game needed a steady hand.
With the contest on the line, Doolittle found the right pass at the right moment, delivering the game-winning assist to help Osos de Manati secure a home victory.
Back home in the NBL1 West, David Okwera was also in action in the NBL1 West, travelling to Kalgoorlie with the East Perth Eagles to face the Goldfields Giants. Okwera finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and three steals across valuable minutes for East Perth.
Cameron Huefner continued his impressive campaign for the Perry Lakes Hawks, producing 28 points and eight rebounds on the road against the Joondalup Wolves.
The performance marked Huefner’s 11th game of the season with 25 or more points, with his latest outing highlighting his ability to find ways to score while still contributing on the glass.
Tom Gerovich made a positive return for the Willetton Tigers, playing his first game since 9 May after missing seven matches. Gerovich helped Willetton record a road win over Lakeside Lightning, finishing with 12 points, four rebounds and three assists in his return to the floor.
After an extended stretch on the sidelines, it was a solid first step back for Gerovich, who was able to contribute across multiple areas as Willetton came away with the result.
Alex Higgins-Titsha also produced a strong performance on the road against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, recording 16 points, five rebounds and two steals. Higgins-Titsha’s was a clear standout in another notable performance to add to the Wildcats’ off-season player to watch list for the Red Army.
