The Perth Wildcats are excited to announce the signing* of David Duke Jr, a 6’5” guard with four years of NBA experience and a proven two-way skill set.
Duke Jr joins Perth after time with the Brooklyn Nets, San Antonio Spurs and most recently the Phoenix Suns. He most recently averaged 17.0ppg, 5.9rpg, 3.5apg, and 1.5spg through 42 games for the Austin Spurs during the 24-25 NBA GLeague season.
Before turning professional, Duke Jr was a standout at Providence, earning All BIG EAST honours in 2021 and has also represented Team USA at the 2019 Pan American Games.
Perth Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations and COO Danny Mills said the club is excited by what Duke Jr will bring to the group.
“We’re excited to welcome David to Perth. He brings four years of NBA and GLeague experience, great positional size and is a high-level athlete who competes on both ends of the court. His ability to get downhill and put pressure on the rim is an attribute we’ve been looking for, and his versatility will allow him to contribute to winning in multiple different lineups…”
Duke Jr said he is looking forward to the opportunity ahead.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Wildcats and becoming part of such a respected organization. This is a club with a proud tradition of success, and I’m looking forward to doing whatever I can to help the team compete for another championship in front of the incredible Red Army!”
Head Coach John Rillie added, Duke Jr brings qualities the team has been searching for.
“With David joining us, he will allow our defence to continue to grow as he’s elite at the guard spot. He’s a dynamic open court player so he will generate some easier baskets, something this team has lacked to date.”
David Duke Jr adds backcourt versatility, defensive intensity and explosive athleticism to the roster and is expected to arrive in Perth and join his new teammates early next week.
