In a first for basketball in WA, the Perth Wildcats will hold an open-air game at RAC Arena when the team take on Adelaide 36ers on Saturday 14 January.

This historic event will be the first of its kind at RAC Arena and will potentially accommodate the biggest crowd for an open-air game in NBL history.

Perth Wildcats General Manager of Business Operation Sam Fotu said an open-air game in WA has been a long time coming.

“Since moving to RAC Arena 10 years ago, the possibility of an open-air NBL game in WA has been on the radar,” he said.

“We are closer than ever to bringing that to reality for our amazing members and fans.

“We’re working extremely hard to deliver what will be an incredible experience and could be the largest ever crowd in Australia for an open-air NBL game.”

The club is working closely with the NBL on logistics for the initiative, with the open-air concept pending appropriate weather conditions on match day.

Saturday 14 January vs Adelaide 36ers will also be the members recognition game, a time for the club to show its appreciation for the incredible members and thank them for their continued support.

To keep the weekend of fun rolling, the Perth Wildcats Fan Day will be held the following day (Sunday 15 January) at Esplanade Park in Fremantle.
