Rillie gave a positive update on Doolittle’s injury, sustained in the opening minutes of Friday night’s home loss to Melbourne United, confirming he'd avoided serious damage to his right knee after scans revealed bone bruising.
“The good thing about Kristian is the injury isn’t as severe as they first thought, it’s just a little bone bruising,” Rillie told 9 News.
“He should ease his way into practice this week and we’re hopeful that he’ll get to perform on Saturday against Adelaide.”
Saturday’s clash against the 36ers at Adelaide Entertainment Centre is set to be captain Jesse Wagstaff’s 450th for the club in a milestone only one player – Ricky Grace who finished on 482 games – has achieved.
Rillie paid tribute to his veteran skipper ahead of the "amazing" achievement.
“Right now in this stage of his career, his experience and as you saw the other night (against Sydney Kings), he just comes in and provides a nice spark to us when he’s called on,” Rillie said.
“In this day and age of sport, for him to achieve 450 games at one club, it’s amazing.”
The Wildcats are currently 2-3 in NBL24, while the 36ers broke through for their first win of the season against Illawarra on Saturday night.
