"For us it's just about continuing our momentum and it's great to be home after we've done a great job on the road so far this year" ~ Wildcats head coach John Rillie.

The Wildcats return to RAC Arena to face Illawarra, who make their third trip to Perth this season.

With the season series locked at one win apiece following two closely fought encounters and all 10 NBL teams in town for HoopsFest, the spotlight will be firmly on this matchup.

Perth are in strong form, currently sitting fifth on the ladder and carrying a three-game winning streak following an important road victory over South East Melbourne, while Illawarra arrives after a narrow home defeat to New Zealand.

The season series sits evenly balanced at one win apiece, with both meetings already played in Perth.

The opening clash in Round 2 saw the Wildcats pull away late to secure a 92-84 win.

The Round 6 encounter went down to the final possession, with the Hawks claiming a one-point victory. In that contest, JaVale McGee and Tyler Harvey each scored 24 points, with McGee’s presence around the rim proving to be the difference.

Momentum continues to build for the Wildcats as their big name players continue to deliver big game moments.

Kristian Doolittle is coming off a dominant 24-point, 12-rebound double-double and has driven Perth’s recent success with his physicality and versatility.

Dylan Windler has also found form at the right time, producing a season-high 27 points in his last outing.

Jo Lual-Acuil Jr, who is averaging 16.8 points per game, remains a focal point.

Wildcats head coach John Rillie is well aware of the challenge ahead and will look to build on the momentum generated by the Wildcats’ three-game winning streak heading into the contest.

"The last time we played Illawarra they won a hard-fought game right at the death.

For us it's just about continuing our momentum and it's great to be home after we've done a great job on the road so far this year. So it's about how we come out and perform and I like how we're trending right now."

With HoopsFest creating a showcase atmosphere, the Wildcats will be focused on protecting their home floor and continuing their late-season surge in front of the Red Army.
