Todd Blanchfield Arrives at Wildcats HQ

New Perth Wildcat recruit Todd Blanchfield served his 14 days quarantine and has made his first appearance at Wildcats HQ.
After driving approximately 4700 kms across the country, Todd and his partner Jess made it to Perth, where they were required to spend two weeks in quarantine as part of WA’s COVID-19 protocols.
Blanchfield had his first training session with his new Wildcats teammates this morning, starting with a gym workout and finishing with a shootaround on court.
“There was a solid three-week patch there where I didn’t get to shoot a ball at all,” he said.
“It was definitely frustrating, for the most part I tried to keep myself entertained so that I didn’t think about it too much!”
Todd Blanchfield made his NBL debut in 2009 for the Townsville Crocodiles, under head-coach at the time, Trevor Gleeson.
“I’ve got a tremendous amount of respect for Trev, he gave me my opportunity when I was 17 to come into the league,” he said.
“To be able to come back and play under him again, obviously he’s had a lot of success here, and the club has had a lot of success, it’s really cool to be a part of it.”
Blanchfield is excited to get started under the Wildcats basketball system.
“I think it’s part of the reasons they have so much success here, everyone is out there playing for each other and everyone is willing to give up a good shot to get a great shot for their teammate and I think that’s fun basketball.”
