The Perth Wildcats extend their sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of Life Member and former team manager, Terry Satie, with a celebration of his life held, 5 May, at Pinnaroo Cemetery East Chapel.

Terry’s involvement with the club dates back to the 1980s, where he served as team manager during the Wildcats’ formative years, playing an important role behind the scenes and contributing to the foundations of the club.

Across four seasons from 1983 to 1986, Terry became a familiar and respected figure within the organisation, known for his tireless work ethic and unwavering commitment to the team.

His connection to the club extended to family, with his son Ian Satie also playing for the Wildcats across three seasons from 1982 to 1984.

Perth Wildcats legend Mike Ellis paid tribute to Terry, reflecting on the lasting impression he left on everyone involved.

“Terry Satie was the Wildcats Team Manager for 4 seasons from 1983 until 1986 inclusive. Affectionately known as Fossil, he was a genuinely wonderful person who went out of his way to do whatever it took to help the players and coaches do the best they could.

In those days it was a completely voluntary role and in fact, like most people involved then, cost him money. He would go above and beyond to make sure every little detail was correct, from flights to accommodation to washing the uniforms, which was done at home at his expense.

He was usually the first one to games and training and the last to leave having to pick up uniforms, warmup tops, tracksuits and towels after everyone had left.

Always quick with a joke or to be a friendly ear for anyone that wanted to have a chat or a whinge. He made everyone around him better and left a lasting impression on everyone involved in the organisation.

Terry set the standard for those that followed him. RIP you will be sorely missed but not forgotten.”

In an era where roles were driven by passion and commitment, Terry’s contribution extended far beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, helping shape the standards and culture that continue to define the club today.

Vale Terry Satie.
