Perth Wildcats captain Jesse Wagstaff will make history when he takes to the court against the Illawarra Hawks on Tuesday night.

It will be Wagstaff’s 381st game for the club, and it sees him move past Shawn Redhage into second positon on Wildcats all-time games-played list.

The six-time champions said it’s an honour.

“I guess it’s not really something you think about while you’re playing, when I retire and hang up the boots I’m sure I’ll look back, but it’s just another game for us, bit of a cliché, but it’s an important game,” he said.

“Shawn was obviously here at the club when I first came here, he was somewhat of a mentor and has turned into a really good friend so it’s been nice to have him along the journey.”

Wagstaff and Redhage won four titles as teammates.

Earlier this season Wagstaff overtook legend James Crawford to move into third position, but he is still 102 games behind the all-time leader Ricky Grace, who played an incredible 482 games.

Jesse Wagstaff has scored the seventh-most points for the Wildcats and hit the third-most three-point shots. He’s ninth for rebounds.

Congratulations, Jesse Wagstaff!
