The Perth Wildcats will head to Canberra for this year’s NBL Blitz, taking on two blockbuster matchups as part of the league’s official pre-season tournament.

Returning to the nation’s capital for the first time in over a decade, the 2025 NBL Blitz will run from August 27–31 at the newly refurbished AIS Arena, featuring all 10 teams in a five-day, double-header format.

The Wildcats will face Melbourne United on Wednesday 27 August before lining up against the Illawarra Hawks on Friday 29 August.

The trip marks a special return for long-time Wildcats captain Jesse Wagstaff, who grew up in Canberra and began his basketball journey not far from the tournament venue.

Perth will be aiming to build on last year’s unbeaten Blitz campaign, where they claimed wins over Cairns, New Zealand and Adelaide to finish just short of the Loggins-Bruton Cup.

This year’s tournament will provide a key platform for the Wildcats to fine-tune combinations and continue preparations ahead of a massive NBL26 season, which tips off at RAC Arena on Friday 20 September against South East Melbourne Phoenix.
