Wildcats Wrap 13 July

As the NBL off season rolls on, Perth Wildcats players are taking their talents overseas and to the NBL1. Keep up with how they are performing.

Corey Webster:

Corey Webster and the Canterbury Rams picked up a pair of wins over the last round of NZNBL in their pursuit towards the final 6.

Against the Southland Sharks, Webster had 18 points and 3 rebounds in the sides nine-point win.

Michael Harris:

Harris and the Nuggets continue to get it done with a big win over the Nelson Giants in Nelson.

Harris struggled from the field early but made a couple of big plays late including a 7-0 run in the fourth topped off with a dunk to put some much-needed space between the Nuggets and their opposition.

David Okwera:

Okwera has been recognised for this hard work being nominated for the NBL1 West youth player of the year. The forward is continuing to rise on the court with the Perth Redbacks as the team closes in on finals.

In his first game last round he put up 12 points, 2 rebounds and 2 blocks against the East Perth Eagles, before entering the starting line-up for the next game and putting up 13 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in his best game of the season so far against the Geraldton Buccaneers.

Ben Henshall:

Ben Henshall spent last week in the US with the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence participating in a series of NBA Global Academy games.

Henshall put his name on the map catching the eyes of NBA scouts with multiple strong performances.

Henshall finished up the tournament as the leading scorer, averaging 16.8 points while dominating both sides of the ball.

Kyle Zunic:

Kyle Zunic and the Northside Wizards defeated the Cairns Marlins on Friday night, with Zunic tallying 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block in the win.

In the second game of a double header, the Wizards went down to the Townsville Heat in a match where Zunic finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and a block.

Tai Webster:

Since Tai Webster joined the Nuggets in late June the side has yet to lose a game, with them coasting to a win over the Nelson Giants in a performance as Webster was awarded the player of the match.

Falling just two assists shy of a triple-double, Webster tallied a game-high 22 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists and three steals.

Hyrum Harris:

Harris and the Hawks got their second win in a row, defeating the ladder leading Auckland Tuatara by 12 points last round.

Harris was instrumental, with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks in the win.

The Hawks final 6 chances remain alive with one game remaining in their regular season.

Jack Andrew:

Jack Andrew provided a solid 6 points and 3 rebounds in limited time off the bench as his Nuggets defeated the Nelson Giants.
