Perth Wildcats young gun has been named in the final 12-man Australian Boomers team to head to Japan for FIBA World Cup Qualifying games next week.

Zunic joins a contingent of exciting young Australian players in the side, along with former Wildcats championship players Nick Kay, Angus Brandt and Rhys Vague.

Head Coach Rob Beveridge is looking forward to the opportunity for the Boomers in Japan.

“We are really pleased with the final team of 12 that we have selected for the games against Chinese Taipei and Japan,” said Beveridge.

“We have a blend of players that have international playing experience as well as a group of up and coming players with huge potential. I’m super excited to be reunited with Boomer Nick Kay who will take on a senior role as a leader of this group.”

Perth Wildcats associate head coach Mike Kelly joins Beveridge’s coaching staff for the three-game tour.

Zunic and Kelly depart for Japan on Monday, and return to Melbourne to reunite with the Wildcats squad on 2 March.
