After more than two months away from home, the Perth Wildcats will return to Western Australia on Tuesday ahead of the state’s border re-opening on Thursday.
The team will remain in home quarantine until then.
After playing the first five games of the season at RAC Arena, the Wildcats departed Perth on 27 December, expecting to be on the road for approximately six weeks.
With changes to the State Government’s border plans, that six weeks extended to 64 days.
In that time, the team has been based in both Hobart and Melbourne, playing 10 of its 14 allotted away games.
"I'm obviously excited, I don't want to get emotional, I'm excited to see my kids and see my wife," said coach Scott Morrison after Monday's game in Tasmania.
"I've been Tasmania for nine weeks, I've been in Perth for four. So I'm excited to get home and even sweeter to get a win to send us off with."
The remaining four road games are scheduled and set to be played prior to the Wildcats beginning a run of nine consecutive home games to conclude the regular season.
The team will train in Perth for the first time in 2022 later this week ahead of its road trip to Adelaide this weekend.
