The important Perth Wildcats import hasn't played in more than a month, since hurting his groin in the early minutes of the home loss to ladder leaders Illawarra at RAC Arena on December 6.
But, speaking on the Perth Wildcast podcast, Doolittle revealed he was set to play against the JackJumpers this weekend in a huge boost for the Wildcats' hopes of leaving the Apple Isle with a victory.
“I think something big that everyone is wondering is if you’re going to be playing with the groin injury you’ve had?” Wildcast co-host and Wildcats young gun Elijah Pepper asked.
“Yes,” Doolittle responded.
Doolittle opened up about his frustrations being on the sidelines for a significant period.
“I hate not being able to play,” he said.
“It’s been challenging not being able to participate with my team.
“It’s a difficult situation, wanting to get back but understanding that your body isn’t letting you.
“Especially the way you got hurt, non-contact and kind of spontaneous as well."
Doolittle was still a regular during the Wildcats' recent road trips, providing extra leadership and voice on the sidelines.
In a wide-ranging chat, Doolittle also spoke about his basketball journey which includes stints in Japan, Puerto Rico, NBA G-League and Israel, and how he ended up at the Wildcats just a few days out from the NBL24 season.
He also chatted about becoming a father for the first time during the off-season, with wife Mackie giving birth to Kristian Jr, and how that has changed his life.
